There are lots of ways that you can support our work - we have something for every age, pocket and ability!
You can become a member of the Bognor Regis Local History Society.
For a modest annual subscription, you will receive two very interesting newsletters each year crammed with articles written by fellow members, some highlighting some research that they have done, or just recalling their memories of the town: a street, school, shop, in fact just about anything. The Society hosts regular meetings at The Hub in the Queensway, featuring a guest speaker over coffee and biscuits. The society organises occasional trips, and the highlight of the year is the Christmas lunch! For further details contact the Membership Secretary. Details can be found on the Local History Society page.
How about becoming volunteer at Bognor Museum?
If you like meeting people then this is the place for you. It is not too onerous, and you can give as little or much time as you like. The Museum is open from April to November, Tuesday to Saturday, and Bank Holidays. Shifts are from 10-1 and 1-4, or all day if you like (mornings only during November). You are never on your own, and it is a great way of making new friends. The duties are light: answering questions about the displays and town, some souvenir and book sales and generally providing a welcoming presence. If you are interested in the town and love chatting, then you will feel right at home here and you will find it very rewarding. There are excellent welfare facilities for volunteers so you won’t have to worry about that. For further details contact via the Museum.
The Society also attends many of the major events across the town, having a stall to promote the work of the Society and Museum, recruit new members and volunteers and sell publications etc.. Our ability to do this is determined by the availability of those able to attend. We are always under a Gazebo, or in a Marquee or hall and it can be a very pleasurable duty, particularly on a sunny day when there is also lots going on around as well. If you are able to assist, please leave your name on the rota in the Museum.
The Society is a Registered Charity 286590. All our annual reports and accounts are filed with the Charity Commission, and can be viewed here.
